Magnetic window screens
Our magnetic window screens are MagicSeal - a budget, rental-friendly brand we offer as a removable alternative to the installed Serene retractable. It is a made-to-measure mesh panel with a magnetic perimeter that snaps onto a thin strip around your window frame. A magnetic screen only seals if it is measured to the millimetre, so we measure, supply, and fit them ourselves - the same care as every other screen we install.
When magnetic is the right answer
Magnetic screens are the smart choice when a fixed installed screen is not what you need:
- Tight clearances - where a Serene head box will not fit, such as a window set behind a ranch slider.
- Budget - roughly a third cheaper than the installed Serene screen.
- Rentals - no permanent fixings, so they come off cleanly when you move.
- Easy cleaning - lift the panel off by hand and pop it back on.
For larger windows or a permanent, retract-into-a-cassette finish, the professionally installed Serene retractable screen is the better fit - see our window screens range for the installed option.

How do I buy magnetic window screens? +

When is a magnetic screen the right choice? +
Magnetic screens suit rentals, smaller or awkward windows, tight clearances, and tighter budgets. They lift off in seconds for cleaning or to open the window fully, and leave no permanent fixings - ideal where you cannot or do not want to drill.
How do magnetic window screens fit? +
A thin magnetic strip fixes around the window frame and the screen panel snaps onto it. No power tools are needed - most people fit one in a few minutes following the guide, or we can measure and fit them for you.
How do they compare to a Serene retractable screen? +
Serene is our own retractable screen, professionally installed, retracting into a slim cassette and suited to larger openings - it is the option we lead with. Yes. Magnetic screens are designed to be easy to fit yourself, but we also supply and install them - send your details through the quote form and we will talk through whether magnetic or the installed Serene screen suits your windows better.
Are you the same company as Phantom Screens in the US or Canada? +
Phantom Screens NZ is New Zealand owned and run, and part of the wider Phantom Screens family. Phantom in Canada leads much of the group's research and development, and a few of our door and outdoor ranges are made to measure by Phantom in Australia, where our New Zealand volumes are too low to make them here. Our window screens are made in our Tauranga workshop, and every screen is measured, fitted, and serviced by our own team.
