Our story
Phantom Screens came to New Zealand in 1999, when Vaughan Bryant started fitting Phantom’s retractable screens - made in those days in Phantom’s Adelaide factory - and ran the whole operation from a carport on Fraser Street in Tauranga. For years Vaughan was on the road the length of the country, measuring openings, fitting screens, and building a dealer network from the ground up.
When Adam Broadbent took the business over, it came with some stock, some hard-won know-how, and one employee - who still builds screens in our Tauranga workshop today. Vaughan took Adam out to his first measure-up himself: a big country home in the Waikato, the trees turning as they drove down in the autumn. Since then the business has grown and brought manufacturing to New Zealand - our retractable window screens are now made to measure in our own Tauranga workshop, alongside our head office. The hands-on start hasn’t changed: every screen is measured for the opening, made to order, and professionally installed.
We’ve screened more than 3,000 Kiwi homes. Every retractable insect screen, window screen, and outdoor blind we sell is professionally installed, with service and aftercare arranged through Phantom Screens NZ.

Are you the same company as Phantom Screens in the US or Canada? +
Phantom Screens NZ is New Zealand owned and run, and part of the wider Phantom Screens family. Phantom in Canada leads much of the group's research and development, and a few of our door and outdoor ranges are made to measure by Phantom in Australia, where our New Zealand volumes are too low to make them here. Most of our screens are made to measure in our own Tauranga workshop.
