The premium retractable window screen
The Serene retractable window screen pulls down inside slim side tracks for insect protection, then retracts into a discreet cassette when you do not need it - so your window looks unscreened when the screen is away. The cassette has a slim, softly rounded profile that sits neatly against the frame, rather than the boxier look of bulkier screens. It is measured, custom-made at our Tauranga workshop, and installed by our own team, with the hardware colour-matched to your joinery.
Mesh and finish
Serene takes the full mesh range: standard insect mesh for most homes, midge mesh for coastal and estuary properties, and solar/privacy mesh that cuts heat and glare while softening the view in. Which windows can take a Serene retractable screen? +

Can you colour-match the screen to my joinery? +
Yes. The Serene hardware is powder-coated in the Dulux range, with popular standard colours plus custom for a small surcharge, confirmed at the measure-up - so the cassette and tracks blend into your window frames.
How does this compare to a magnetic window screen? +
Serene is the premium installed option - it retracts away and is built to measure for a permanent, tidy finish. Magnetic screens are the removable budget option for rentals, small windows, and tighter budgets - available DIY or fitted by us. See our magnetic window screens for the budget option.
Can a Serene screen be retrofitted to my existing windows? +
Almost always. Most installs are retrofitted to existing aluminium joinery with neat trims; on new builds we coordinate recess details with your builder or joiner.
Can a Serene screen go wider than the standard sizes? +
Standard Serene sizes run to about 2.5 m wide x 2.2 m high, which covers almost every window. Wider openings up to about a 3 m span can be made on request, outside the standard warranty terms - talk to us at the measure-up and we will advise honestly whether it suits your window.
Are you the same company as Phantom Screens in the US or Canada? +
Phantom Screens NZ is New Zealand owned and run, and part of the wider Phantom Screens family. Phantom in Canada leads much of the group's research and development, and a few of our door and outdoor ranges are made to measure by Phantom in Australia, where our New Zealand volumes are too low to make them here. Our window screens are made in our Tauranga workshop, and every screen is measured, fitted, and serviced by our own team.
