Retractable screening across a pair of French doors, opening to the garden.
A cassette each side, the two screens meeting in the middle of the pair.
One screen drawn across an open French door - the view stays clear.
French doors open up a room beautifully, and a retractable screen lets you keep them open through summer without insects coming in. Most customers prefer one screen drawn right across the pair: there are no bars down the middle of the opening, so the view stays clear - especially worth it when the doors frame an outlook. A 60 mm MeshLock covers pairs to about 2.0 m, and we often fit the Wall Screen or Brio 612 pleated across wider pairs. Where a single screen does not suit, a cassette fits at each jamb and the two screens meet in the middle. Either way the screens disappear when you are not using them. For a single hinged door, see hinged door screens.
The full mesh range applies: standard insect mesh for most homes, midge mesh for coastal and estuary properties, and pet mesh for households with dogs and cats - see our mesh options for every weave. Hardware is powder-coated and colour-matched to the Dulux range so the cassettes blend into your joinery - see colour options. See the system comparison on our door screens page.

FAQ
Yes, two ways. Most customers prefer a single screen drawn right across the pair - there are no bars down the middle of the opening, which keeps the view clear. A 60 mm MeshLock covers pairs to about 2.0 m, and we often use the Wall Screen or Brio 612 pleated on wider pairs. The other option is a cassette at each jamb, with the two screens meeting in the middle.
No. The screen retracts into a slim cassette at the jamb - one cassette for a single screen across the pair, or one at each side - so you can open one door or both and the screens stay out of the way until you want them.
No. The cassettes are slim and powder-coated to colour-match your joinery, and the high-visibility mesh keeps the light and the view that make French doors worth having.
Almost always. Most installs are retrofitted to existing aluminium or timber joinery with neat surface mounting. Send a photo and rough sizes and we will confirm fit and an indicative price.
Phantom MeshLock keeps the mesh retained in the side tracks, which resists the blow-outs that catch loose-hanging screens in a gust.
Phantom Screens NZ is New Zealand owned and run, and part of the wider Phantom Screens family. Phantom in Canada leads much of the group's research and development, and a few of our door and outdoor ranges are made to measure by Phantom in Australia, where our New Zealand volumes are too low to make them here. Our window screens are made in our Tauranga workshop, and every screen is measured, fitted, and serviced by our own team.
