The honest answer about magnetic door screens
Magnetic door screens - the mesh curtains that split down the middle and snap shut behind you - are a retail product you will find at hardware stores and on Trade Me. We do not sell or fit them. In fact, a fair share of our door installs start with taking one down: the owner has put up with the gaps, the sagging, and the flies that get in anyway, and has decided to screen the doorway properly.
Why they disappoint
The idea is appealing - cheap, no tools, hands-free. In practice the magnet join gaps open in any breeze, pets and kids drag the curtain out of alignment, and because they hang loose rather than seal, insects find their way around the edges. They are the kind of purchase that works for a season and then becomes the reason you call us.
What we fit on doorways instead
A retractable door screen: MeshLock for standard doors and sliders, or the Wall Screen for wide and bi-fold openings. The mesh is retained in tracks so it cannot blow out, it genuinely seals when closed, and it retracts out of sight when you are not using it - measured, made to size, and fitted by our own team, then backed by our limited lifetime warranty.

What is a magnetic door screen? +
A mesh curtain that hangs in the doorway and splits down the middle, held shut by magnets along the join - you push through and it swings closed behind you. They are sold as cheap DIY kits at hardware retailers and online marketplaces.
Does Phantom sell or install magnetic door screens? +
No. They are not part of our range. The magnetic screens we supply and install are window panels - for doorways we fit retractable screens, which seal properly and last.
Why do you advise against them? +
Because we are so often the ones asked to take them down. The magnet join gaps open in wind, pets and kids drag the curtain out of line, and the fit is rarely tight enough to actually keep insects out - so people get frustrated and end up paying twice. If a doorway matters, screen it once, properly.
What should I fit instead? +
