At Phantom Screens, we recently completed a job in Themes, NZ that solved a pesky problem for our customer. Their balcony was constantly getting drenched whenever the rain blew in, leaving them frustrated and wet. But fret not, because we were there to save the day!
For this particular job, we utilised our trusty Cocha Outdoor Patio Weather Screen. However, we must confess that we made a mistake initially. The customer had requested clear PVC as the material for the blind. Now, although it may seem like a good idea at first, we strongly advised against it. Why, you ask? Well, clear PVC has a tendency to expand and contract, leading to a shorter lifespan. Additionally, it lacks breathability, making it prone to developing mold or becoming milky if not properly cared for.
Instead, we opted for a mesh with a 10% opening. This choice allowed us to block most of the weather elements, while still providing a lovely outlook for our customer. They could now enjoy the view of their magnificent, mature trees and array of animals in the backyard without worrying about getting soaked.
After the installation, some significant weather tested the screens, and unfortunately, the mesh allowed a little water to seep in. Understandably, this left our customer less than satisfied. However, we always strive for perfection and to ensure customer satisfaction. Therefore, we came up with a solution: reverting back to the clear PVC.
